This past weekend Unity hit her 8 month mark. She has been rapidly learning new ways to scare daddy and keep me on the run. She cannot sit still and always requires a new challenge. We do not see her slowing down anytime soon.

When Unity's doctor said she was precocious we thought he was just being nice but apparently he was giving us a warning. Unity has not only mastered crawling at high speeds but she is now able to move around the house in a standing position while holding things. She is not so easy to fall anymore and when she does she has learned to do it without bruises. We are still expecting Unity to take her first steps by Christmas even though she has become more content with crawling.

Unity as started to make conscious gestures with her waving and clapping. She waves at everybody we walk past and if somebody is standing by the front door she will wave bye bye regardless if they are leaving or not. Yesterday Jessica and I caught her clapping in time to one of her songs. Most likely a fluke but with Unity we never know what to expect.

Unity's love of music also keeps growing at a rapid pace. She now bops and dances to the guitar and produces a huge smile when I walk out with the guitar or Jessica sits at the piano. Her musical likings continuously change as well. She is currently on an Iron Maiden kick. Crank Maiden and she is a happy rocker! We tried to teach her how to give the horns but she is still to young for that type of finger control.

Unity as been very good with voice commands. She recognizes a stern tone and will not continue actions that we get stern about. We are very surprised that she takes this type of direction at her age and it is making life a bit easier for mommy and daddy.

We are anxiously waiting for Unity's first Christmas. She has been mesmerized by the lights and decorations everywhere and is enjoying the holiday festivities. We have not decided what we are doing for New Years yet, but will most likely have a fun time with Unity's first change of the year.
