First time we met the other moms out!
We met the other moms from the mom’s group we attend at Goddard Park where we strolled around the Farmer’s Market then took a long walk. Unity and I both had a great time!

First time playing with her sock monkey!
Auntie Margie and Auntie Beth gave Unity a jack-in-the-box Sock Monkey toy when she was about a week old. Well, she is finally old enough to enjoy it; which she sure does. The first time Sock Monkey jumped out it didn’t scare Unity, but instead scared Mommy.

First time eating cereal!!!
Unity had her first bite of cereal a week and a half ago! She didn’t really know what to do with this stuff Mommy and Daddy were putting in her mouth, but she indulged us and gave us a good show. Her face, bib, and hands were covered in cereal, and we have no idea how much, if any, cereal made it down to her tummy. She is now getting the hang of it and seems to like it.

First time on Poppy’s boat!!!
Scott, Unity and I met Poppy, Nana, Chelsea, and Matt out on the boat two Sunday’s ago. She looked so cute in her life vest, but I doubt she thought so. We took just a little drive out in the harbor, until Unity told us she had had enough for the day. It was good for her first try, we hope next time we can stay out a little longer.

Overall, Unity is growing and getting more and more fun to be around. She is showing much more of a personality now, letting us know what she likes and doesn’t like. She is always on the go which in turn keeps Mommy and Daddy on their toes.

My First Time at Camp

This past weekend we took Unity up to the Pettigrew family cabin in Randolph, N.H. We enjoyed a quiet escape from the RI heat and had some quality family time together. To date this was Unity's farthest trip from home.

We arrived at the cabin on Saturday morning and spent the day hanging around the cabin, visiting some local syrup makers and sitting around the fire. We had a very clear night Saturday and after Unity went to sleep Jessica and I sat around the telescope spotting Jupiter, a waxing gibbous moon, and a few other beautiful stars.
Sunday brought cooler weather and a nice breeze that lasted all day. We sat around the fire and relaxed for the morning. Later we took Unity down to the Israel River. She loved watching the water move and was mesmerized by the sounds.

Unity made the trip up and back during the day time. We were a bit nervous about taking this trip during her awake time but Unity again proved to be a trooper! In the future we will still be cautious about daytime travel. Unity may have been fine this time but she has made it clear that she does not like the car.

Unity has been going through a lot of changes lately. She has starting sampling everything with her mouth. Then she will talk with whatever she is sampling still in her mouth. She has also started to blow bubbles and make sounds by blowing air out of her tightly pressed lips. She has not been able to identify the difference between air and spit. This has resulted in spit on her face, hands, shirt, and Daddy all of the time!
Unity has grown very fond of standing. She will reach for you when she is laying down. If you grab her hands she will pull herself up to a sitting position then immediately push herself into a standing position. Once she is standing she looks all around and starts to dance.

We have learned that once we get used to Unity's routine she notices and deliberately changes everything just to keep mommy and daddy playing catch up. She is such a blast and knows exactly how to get what she wants from mommy and daddy.

Summer Fun

Unity has been having a blast with her first summer. So far we have been lucky and it has not been to hot.. yet. Unity loves to be outside and any chance for her to go outside is well worth it. Her eye site has greatly developed over the past month and she is taking every chance she has to look at everything intently. She is all about looking at herself in the mirror and even makes a little pose.

Last week ago we celebrated Unity's 3 month birthday. She has hit her 3 month mark right on target and has started to cut back on sleeping time. This is great for mommy and daddy who get to interact with her much more. She is still a chatterbox and is getting louder and louder. She likes to sit around with us and read us her favorite panda book in baby latin. Unity has also recently found a great interest in trying to stand. We will put her on her feet and hold her hands and she stands and laughs.

Unity and Jessica have been going to a mom's group. Unity likes this time with other babies. There is one baby close to Unity's age. His name is Gus and Unity enjoys flirting with him. Everywhere Unity goes she is getting a big reputation for her cuteness. I think she knows how damn cute she is and applies just the right amount of cute to get her way.

This coming weekend we are taking Unity back to NJ for the weekend so she can see her NJ family.
