Unity is now two months old. She is becoming a very fun baby to be around, since she is now making a variety of sounds and responds to her surroundings. Some of her new sounds are "aaaaa", "aaaboo", "aagooo", "ooooo", and "I". She also loves watching mommy and daddy make funny faces and sounds at her that she tries diligently to reproduce.
Unity still enjoys lying on her floor mat where she chats with Mr. Star and Little Red Bird. Mr. Star sings her songs and blinks lights at her that keeps her totally enthralled (well for at least 5 minutes :) She seems to like looking at any lights that blink.
Unity looks like she grows and changes everyday. I can't wait to go to her next Dr's appointment to see what her height and weight are. I think she has to be pushing 11 lbs. and 23-24 inches long. Unity's eyes are still very blue, and Scott and I both now believe that they may stay this color. We'll have to see!
This week Unity has really developed her smile. She likes to play on her floor mat, gazing at the blinking star to which she laughs and talks to.
On Wednesday we took a drive to the horse farm where I take riding lessons. We saw pigs, chickens, and of course the ponies. Unity was awake when we arrived but all that fresh air must have made her sleepy. It was fun to be back there.
This past Memorial Day weekend was Unity's first trip to N.J. We left on Friday night about 8:00pm and arrived in N.J. a little after 11:30pm (the usual 3.5 hour crap drive). Unity slept the entire trip without a sound.
Saturday morning Unity spent some time with Meme and PopPop (Scott's parents) and then we went over to Steinar's. Unity had a blast with Steinar and his parents and it was good for Jess and I to see old friends again. Shortly after we met up with Anne Marie (my sister) and her daughter Isabella at the park in Roxbury. Meme, PopPop, Uncle Ernie (Scott's Godfather), and Mike Stolarz met up with us at the park and we all had a blast. We left the park and joined Meme, PopPop and Uncle Ernie for dinner and then head over to Stan and Betty Anne Fintzy's for a comfortable evening with very close friends.
Unity had such a busy day on Saturday that by the time we returned to my parents place she was totally out. I carried her in from the car and she never woke up, just hung from my arm. Needless to say she slept the whole night without a problem.
Sunday morning we woke up to find out that Unity got a little to much sun at the park and was a little pink in the cheeks. We were not very happy at this and daddy needs to learn about sensitive baby skin and that the ball of nuclear fire planet Earth orbits is not to be underestimated.
After a long breakfast with family we met up with an old friend that we have not seen in over 6 years. It was good to see each other and we had a blast catching up and talking about babies and all that. Shortly after we spend the early afternoon with the Ferments and got to see Joe and family. Joe was a natural with Unity and she immediately fell asleep on his arm. I felt bad for her when we took her back. She definitely has a thing for Joe.
We spent the remainder of the day at Auntie Mary's (Scott's sister) house for a Memorial Day picnic. Most of the family was there and we had some great laughs sitting around on the patio. Sunday night we left N.J. at 8:00pm and again Unity made the trip home without a peep. So far Unity is a traveler, just like her mommy and dadoo!
When we planned our Memorial Day trip to N.J. we planned to debut Unity at the yearly White Trash Day party that takes place at the farm in Andover. Unfortunately White Trash Day did not take place this year, but we are optimistic about next year!
Overall Unity had a good time with the Jersey side of her family and just may assimilate into the Jersey girl culture. This may not necessarily be a good thing..
Unity had her first smile on Wednesday morning while she and her Daddy were playing! Since then she has been interacting with us more and more.
This past week our friend Liz came to visit with her daughter Alexa. We had so much fun visiting and going to the zoo! Alexa and Unity had a great time; although Alexa will remember a bit more since Unity slept most of the day.
