The past few days with Unity have been a blast. We have had some unexpected challenges that proved good lessons. One lesson we learned was even half-caf does not work with baby. Daddy loves his caffeine and so does mommy. Well Unity did not and she let us know almost all day on Saturday. New plan: Pump during the week, drink coffee on weekend, pump n dump the caffeine milk. What a waste of good caffeine!
Today Unity started attempting new sounds. Up till this point she just cried in intervals of increased amplification. Now she has started making herself known by putting her hand in the air and stating her opinion. Incoherent but non-the-less opinionated.
Tonight is bath time for Unity. She was initially afraid of the tub but since then has grown to like it a bit. She is still cautious and loudly questions daddy's ability to wash her hair. She is very overtired tonight so bath time will be a new adventure.
Apparently daddy is not up on baby etiquette and gets Unity all excited when he comes home from work. We sing, dance, and bob around the house. This continues until mommy intervenes and reminds us that Unity is not a punk rocker... yet.
Rain all week.. Unity stuck inside with mommy.

Today we went outside, in-between rain showers, and found some pretty flowers to make May Day Baskets. Unity found it exhausting work.

It was a beautiful day yesterday so Unity and I ventured out to Whole Foods by ourselves. She was great in the car, looking around, and then falling asleep. At the market she sat in the black sling around me and she was admired by many. Unity seems to be adjusting to the sling, which is really nice because now I can get more done around the house with my hands free!

At home we walked over to the field of violets and Unity laid down in them. She rolled a little off the blanket and the grass tickled her forehead. I don’t think she enjoyed this very much but she really enjoys being outside. After lying in the violets we took a look at one of Daddy’s wood piles. She’ll be out there soon helping him splitting and stacking!

Unity is doing very well, growing and gaining weight. Her daily highlights are going outside and eating. Scott gives her a bottle every now and then and she really seems to enjoy these bonding moments.
