Celebrate! Unity

It was in the 90’s again yesterday, so Unity and I spent some time outside in the shade. This was her first time to lie on the ground, even though she was on her bee blanket. She is having more and more alert time during the day and really enjoys her time outside. We also took a walk down to visit Poppy and to see what he has been up to. We sat outside in the shade, watched the bees, and saw the little trees Poppy had planted. Unity slept most of the time in her new little black sling.

Friday was Unity's first beach day. Jessica, Unity and I took a trip to Jamestown Island and had a nice stroll around Fort Getty where we chatted with some local fishermen and enjoyed the cool ocean breeze. Afterward we enjoyed a relaxing lunch at Beaver Tail light house. Unity had a great time at the beach and got to show off her cute routine at a local Jamestown bakery we frequent. This was her longest trip yet in the car and she seemed to enjoy riding around. This is much relief for Jess and I. Up till now she so loathed the car.
Yesterday (Saturday) Uncle Fabian came to visit from New Jersey. When he arrived we brought Unity outside with her basket and she had a nice nap in the yard amongst the birds and flowers. After which we all went for a nice walk. Fabian is Unity's godfather and it was a blast to have him up in Rhode Island.
Today Unity experienced that big ball of nuclear fire our planet orbits. We sat around in boxers and diaper talking about the saving grace of our air conditioner that is still stored away for winter. After today it is clear that Unity shares daddy's blatant dislike of summer and the heat that comes with it.
Unity is 15 days old tonight and she has had quite a couple of weeks! Some items to note:
Unity has experienced her first encounter with throwing-up. She did not like it.. agreed.
Jessica ate some delicious Thai from Sawadee last night. Well Unity experienced the Thai for the first time in her diaper. She may enjoy Thai on the way in but not on the way out.
Unity has learned how to "climb" daddy. She starts on my lap and ends up on my shoulder. This generally precedes a fit of some sort. Usually because daddy does not have boobs.
Unity has started to role herself over in her bed. This new found strength has also encouraged attempts at flinging herself out of our lap.
Unity's tear ducts have started to function. This makes daddy even more a sucker for her whimpers which are now accompanied with tears. She is already running the show around here.

These past few days have been quite an adventure for Unity. We have been trying to take her out for walks, to the store, and just out of the house. We had an exciting time at Wholefoods where we got to sniff cheese, watch the pizza guy make pizza and get many stares from random shoppers mesmerized by the lil cutie. We took a walk around the yard watching the animals and listening to birds. Daddy likes the cold and considers 50 degrees F to be mildly warm. Apparently Mommy does not agree and chased after us with blankets.
Some of Jessica's friends came to visit on Tuesday and all got to hang out with Unity for a while. It is nice for Unity to see different people and she seems to like having visitors.
Yesterday afternoon we took a drive with Unity down to Scott's work. She got to meet the people Scott works with and got to see all the technology he plays with and overall had a great time strolling around the office (*asleep). Unity is not very fond of the car seat but I think we may have figured out a few tricks with the seat that just may change her negative opinion of driving.
It has been quite a busy couple days for Unity and this helps her sleep at night. Today we are going to take her out for a long walk and enjoy the spring sun.
