Today was Unity's last day of pre-school. She is excited to be entering Kindergarten, but is sad that none of her friends will be going to the same school next year. Unity is quite determined and in a hurry to grow up. I try to tell her to slow down, but I know that didn't work for me when I was five. Unity has also started riding her bike without training wheels this past Spring. She is very persistent and is not deterred by falls, bruises, and scrapes. Here is her graduation pic and a video of her cruising around on her bike that she calls "Cherry".

Unity has been asking to get her ears pierced. So we took her down to the mall to pick out some hot new earrings and get the ear desecration on. Unity was so brave and determined to get it done. She did not show any signs of anxiety until the last 10 second stretch.
She brought along Rainbow Dash for support.
At first mention I didn't really care. They're Uni's ears.... It's her call... Well at the last minute I got all bothered and sad thinking I was going to miss those cute lil ears. Now I know why Mom got upset when I came home with earrings.
Unity has been getting more interested in stargazing and is quite fascinated with the Moon. She recently took her first astrophotograph (with me) of the Moon with the idea of making a project about the moon that she can bring to the local Nature Swap to get points and then bring to school. Today she finished her project and tomorrow we go to Nature Swap with it.
This is her Moon Photo project:
1: Together Unity and I took a photo of the Moon using her telescope.
2: We ordered prints of the photo
3: Using her printed photo she made a chart of the Lunar surface that was visible in her picture documenting and annotating the most visible craters and Mare. I only served as a point of reference as she did all the physical work.
Unity is VERY proud of herself and her project and so are Jessica and I! She wanted this post on her blog so all of you can see what she did and be proud of her too.
Enjoy!
Earlier this month we took Unity to the State Capitol Building for the bill signing that legalized marriage equality in the state of Rhode Island. It was a happy day for so many people and Unity was there to witness the happiness that resulted from this chance in peoples lives.
Today Unity, Jessica and I all attended the Rhode Island Tattoo Expo. Unity has been talking about the expo for months and today she had her day. She was so excited to be there and was very fascinated watching all the tattoo artists doing their craft. Unity's goal of the day was to become as covered as possible with tattoos and she nearly accomplished that. Unity also won first place in the coloring competition for her age group at the expo.
