Last month Unity turned one year old. She had two parties for her first birthday and had a blast celebrating her first year. She has turned into her own little person. She is walking and talking (a little) and showing off her very unique personality.
Early in April Unity experienced her first Easter egg hunt. She was determined to find all the eggs repeatedly as she dropped them in different places. In her Easter basket she had a plush bunny rabbit that has quickly turned into her favorite. We named her "Bunny" (real original huh?) and Unity loves her Bunny. She will put Bunny on the rocking horse and on the rocking chair and then make sure Bunny is having a good time. She likes to take Bunny wherever she is going and will give Bunny kisses all day. We have also noticed how interested in animals Unity is. She loves Babelle and any other animal we see. She loves to cuddle with dogs and will give kisses to the animals she cuddles with. We are hopeful that she will remain this interested in animals as Jessica and I are.
On April 11 Unity turned one year old. The past year has been a great year for Unity and for Jessica and I. Unity has grown up this year into a little girl with her own personality. She is very energetic and loves to participate in anything we are doing. She is outgoing with other children and loves to be acknowledged. She understands Jessica and I very well and we can usually just tell her to do something and she will do it. She has really started to pick up sign language and can effectively communicate what she wants. Unity is also a very happy baby. She spends most of her day smiling and laughing. She is very engaging and will initiate activities with us. She has a great understanding of what she should and should not be doing, though this does not stop her from doing the things she shouldn't.
Unity has a lot of extended family and friends so we decided to have two birthday parties for Unity. The first party was just family and Unity had a blast. Some of my family came up from N.J. and most of Jessica's family was there also. The second party was for friends. Unity had a lot of fun playing with her friends at her party. She likes to give kisses to her friends and randomly blow kisses at Jessica and I. She gets into her party groove and soon enough is oblivious to individuals and is just on the go. Between both parties Unity had received enough fun toys to keep her very busy with her important business of sorting, trashing, and organizing her toys.
This past month we traded in our car for a newer smaller car. This change also comes with a shift in the placement and direction of Unity's car seat. She is now facing forward and sits next to a window with her own view of the world. This has been great for Unity and for us since now she is OK with going out in the car. I wouldn't say she loves it or even likes it but at least she does not give us hell at the site of the car.
We also put a second seat in my car for Unity. She now has some variety in cars and can have fun zipping around in my car.
This past month has been very busy for Jessica and I. Between all the work Jessica did with Unity's parties, her school work, my class at Ladd observatory, and my increasingly busy schedule with astronomy we have been finding less and less time to keep up with Unity's blog. This is not a valid excuse, just a reason for the larger gaps that have been building in posts. We will try to set a better schedule with posting since we are very happy that everybody visits Unity's blog so regularly.
We are off to the park with Unity now. She loves the swings!
